@Stealth83 : @TC2u : the pandemic shutdown and the continued exploitation of it are also effecting people, it is wearing people out mentally. Even though we are all more connected now more than ever, we are all much more disconnected.

See, I don't understand. SWAT are supposed to be specially trained and in this case, this dept had toured all the schools a couple years ago in Uvalde to learn the layout. Plus, they have better gear. Where were they? And why do we have so many officials saying the other officers were waiting on properly equipped teams to deal with this?

"A total of 1,053 children 14-years-old and younger were killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2019, including 204 who died in alcohol-related accidents. Of those: 109 (53%) were passengers of vehicles with alcohol-impaired drivers."

Just to be clear I'm not downplaying what happened just wanting to point out the hypocrisy in those that are making the laws and supposed to protect us.

@damascus1986 : Absolutely. Nancy and her unlimited supply of gourmet ice cream in her sub-zero freezer reminded me very much of the "let them eat cake" attitude shown by many. It wasn't exactly, a nice gesture during the pandemic when others were worried about how they would feed their kids and put a roof over their heads.

For a start, we don't trust 18-20 yr olds to even buy beer, so why do we allow them to buy assault weapons (not hunting weapons, not self defense weapons) and nearly 400 round of ammo!?!

@Stealth83 : At 18, they can go to war. So maybe I was a little involved in the battle to get rights for 18 year old kids when I was one. Remember, this was during Vietnam, and 18 year olds were drafted as soon as they walked out the high school door. The thinking at that time was if we were old enough to die, we were old enough to make some of our own choices. If I were still 18, I am sure I would still feel this way. As a grandparent of a soon to be 18 year old, not so much. To me, he is still just a baby. It seems we need to come to some middle of the road compromise, but I don't know what it is. I can now see just how most 18 year olds think, and they need another year or two to ripen.
