@MalluGuy : it's a lack of education on the weapons. Pretty much like the lack of education in our schools. All they are taught is how to pass a state test, nothing else. They can't even read or write cursive anymore. I grew up when all of us pretty much had a shotgun or rifle in our vehicles. One kid actually got called to the parking because he had a shotgun in his rear window of his pickup truck. And the principal wanted to see it because he was interested in buying one just like it. That was Pearland high school in the 70s and 80s. What ever was changed back then needs to come back. Not bans. EDUCATION
@susieq : Please not the "more gun control" argument. With 20,000+ laws on the books, what more could be done without restricting responsible gun owners rights? The Axxhole displayed antisocial tendencies for months or years and no one reported to authorities.

@Polemic : Of course no one reported a child to authorities. He had just turned 18. Maybe make it 19 to buy, that gives you time to start an adult record.
@susieq : Again all that does is take away guns from law abiding legal gun owners. There are many 18 yr old's out on their own as responsible adults. They should also be able to defend themselves, their homes and their property especially out in rural areas.

@susieq: the school or his grandparents should have reported his behavior to police. Cutting one's face is not the act of a rational person plus all of the behavior problems at school. You can't restrict gun purchases to people if their antisocial actions aren't reported.
The Uvalde Police Dept had guns! There is news coming out and I verified it for myself that that dept had a SWAT team with full gear. But, the Chief, at his press conference, said they were waiting on properly equipped LE. An HOUR atleast is said to be true before the crazy was put down.
@HillCountry : This was clearly failed leadership and cowardice on the part of multiple LEO agents and agencies on site. Everyone standing around trying to decide which agency is going to take charge and do something. Funny they have no issue barging into someone's house in the middle of the night for a no knock warrant with the expectation of being shot at but they can't distract a kid with a flash bang and take him out?
@MalluGuy : I'm not going to disagree mental health is part of the issue, but I do believe it's our current society that creates it. We lack morals, ethics, and common sense, more and more every day.
