ALDI is located at the southwest rear corner of FM 518 (East Broadway directly behind Popeye's) and Old Alvin Rd., and backs up to Walnut St. (same street that further west is the 77581 US Post Office).

@Tom57 ALDI offers lower prices on products. How they do this is to cut cost somewhere else like bags and not paying for employees to gather up the baskets in the parking lot. I LOVE ALDI and I also remember in the 70s when it was environmentally friendly to bring your own bags, so this is not a new concept. We all have our likes/dislikes that is why there is Kroger, HEB, Walmart and so on. All of these give free bags and free shopping baskets. Happy shopping Emoticon

Went to the one where the bowling alley used to be today and was surprised at how clean it was. The one on the west side wasn't nearly as clean or well laid out, but I went there when it first opened.

Found the bread and had half with dinner tonight. Pretty good! I made it in the toaster oven though - burnt the first half 🙄

Fortunately the whole loaf wouldn't fit, which is why I cut it in half. I turned the toaster oven down to 400° and baked the second half for 10 mins.👍

I do ALL of my grocery shopping at Aldi's. I feed a family of 3 (two teenage boys) on under $600 a month. And yes, the grocery bag thing and the quarter for the cart thing are for them to keep costs down and be able to pass that on to you the customer. BTW, they pay their employees a decent wage. Starting pay for a cashier is $11.50 per hour. They have had rapid expansion in Houston area within the last 3 years, so they are not going away anytime soon.
My son is a football player. He needs protein, protein, protein.... Their protein bars and powder are FAR less expensive than anywhere else and much tastier. I love the mint ones.
If you don't have a quarter, just go ask the cashier. They will give you one to get a cart. Bags... 3 cents a piece for paper ones that hold way more than any cheap plastic bag is going to.
The west side store at Kirby and Broadway has been around the longest. They just went through a major remodel so that the floor plan matched with the new stores they have been building. I love being able to talk to the same staff every time I go in. It's a much more personable feel.
You can shop at HEB and Kroger and what not, that just means Aldi is less crowded when I go there :D

@Tom57 I totally agree, it's right down the street been there 2 times, but just a FYI, I took my kids to Hawaii for 7 days, we stayed in a condo, went grocery shopping for week, shocked, no bags at all, had to carry stuff in what boxes we could find! But at the Wal-mart there, the cloth bags were .25 should have stocked up!

I haven't been yet but will try out the one on Broadway too. I don't mind about bringing canvas bags or getting the paper ones.

Must chime in again to say I don't find myself at Aldi often because of the route I drive and I work a lot BUT the European chocolate at Aldi is FAR superior to any of the Hershey rancid tasting substandard crap America passes off as chocolate.
Yeah I know I'm an M&M, but she's sexy.

Do they carry Taza Chocolate (from Mexico). It's wonderful! We went to the Chocolate Factory in Boston that carries it and learned a lot about how they work with the growers. The taste is unique. I do think Whole Foods carries it.
