This week in our "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series,
we sat down with Tidy Tails Groom & Board

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you
been around?

We are brand new in Pearland! Tidy Tails Groom & Board business opened July 29th, 2025. We offer boarding, grooming and day care services. We groom and board both dogs and cats. As for day boarding, we are an ideal destination for laid back dogs who don’t need much play time. We have a nice sized yard and let the dogs run around inside as long as they aren’t aggressive. Otherwise, we take turns being out and about. We try to help them feel at home as we possibly can.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?

I was searching for happiness in a career. After getting out of the corporate world, I decided to step into a world with animals, which always brings me
happiness. I started going to local shops to ask if I could watch their groomers and clean for free. I was turned down a handful of times, but one shop gave me a chance. I worked there a year and gained close and personal relationships with the other groomers there. That lead to the Tidy Tails Groom & Board vision and the decision to open a shop where we could do things our way, with a focus on kindness, compassion and transparency.

Tell us a few things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What
separates you from the competition?

I am proud of the loyalty of the group that opened the shop with me. Everyone got on board and over many months of planning we worked towards making this goal a reality. The Tidy tails Team is very like-minded and want to serve our community and keep our pet babies happy and healthy. We proudly work with two local rescue
groups, Three Little Pitties and Lone Star Pawz. We help those babies get groomed and ready for their potential new homes. Most of all, we try to create an environment that the dogs enjoy visiting.

What is your favorite part of running this business?

My favorite part of running this business is the people! Of course the dogs are mega important, but seeing the pet parents so happy and satisfied that their baby looks good, smells good and is comfortable is a great feeling. We treat every pet that comes in like one of our own.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?

We love clients who understand how we work. We are not a speedy conveyor belt offloading groomed dogs in record time. We take our time. We get to know your pet a bit better so they are more
comfortable for their groom. Grooming time can be stressful for pets, even if it is a nice environment. We do all we can to keep you from getting home and wondering “What happened with my pet while it was being groomed for her to act this way?”

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
My name is Jamie and I’ve lived in the area for 23 years now. I’m a proud Coast Guard veteran and have worked in many service industries from Cosmetology, Real Estate and Insurance. Returning to a salon environment, but to work with animals instead of people’s hair is incredibly important work. Creating a safe space for pets to feel comfortable while minimizing stress for their grooming session helps build trust with their parents who come to us.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
We have daily specials each day.
  • Tuesday is $5 off toenail trims
  • Wednesday seniors get 15% off
  • Thursday is 30% off our Tidy Fluff service
  • Friday is full day boarding for $25
  • Saturday is 10% off doodle/poodle mixes

We have a weekly bath package for a month for $100 for short-haired dogs and a boarding package for 1 free night when you purchase 9. The stays do not have to be consecutive. Our specials and packages are good until 2026 and we’ll be changing daily specials and packages.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your
business?

Our customers appreciate that at Tidy Tails Groom & Board, are able to fully check out our facilities, our services, processes and products used. As transparency is such an important aspect of this
business, I invite anyone to come check out the facility and see how things are done. We can discuss the products used and how they benefit your pets coat health. Did you know many groom shops don’t use conditioner and even use Dawn dish soap for their baths? We find this unacceptable and that is one example of what we’d like our customers and potential customers to know. Quality groomers, products and grooms is what you’ll find at Tidy Tails Groom & Board.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
As we continue to grow, we look forward to building a full clientele and being able to offer pick-up and drop-off services. We are hoping to have a mobile unit in a year or two.
