The Pearland Police Department is now having to investigate one of their own for Driving While
Intoxicated.
The
Pearland Police Department has initiated an internal affairs investigation after a police officer was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
Officer Michael Gebert, a department employee since 2001, was in uniform and driving a department patrol vehicle at the time of the incident. The investigation was initiated when the officer arrived at work before beginning his tour of duty. Pearland PD conducted the criminal investigation and filed the charge. Officer Gebert was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
“I am disappointed one of our officers is the subject of a criminal investigation,” said Chief of Police Johnny Spires. “I can assure the citizens we will conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations, keeping in mind the officer is entitled to the same due process as any other citizen.”
