@MalluGuy : I can't believe his maximum would only be two years.

@Mitsu2125 : He will be out in a few months for "good behavior". Also he will not be kept in general population because he was a police officer. He would be in danger not only for being a cop but also for taking advantage of a child. Most inmates don't take kindly to either.

@Stealth83 : Sorry, but when the woman falls in love, she may be oblivious to his faults. Sure she should put her child first, but she isn't going to be suspicious of everyone and everything. It is not necessarily putting her wants first to marry someone she loves. She probably thought he was a good stepdad. Hindsight is 20/20, but foresight is not.

@Stealth83 : #1- She was dating a cop. What more screening do you want? He's passed background checks, has no criminal background... And, if he was good, he probably knew how to hide both the camera and his deviant behavior pretty well.
#2 - Always putting the children first is not the right answer. To raise a happy, well adjusted child, the parents have to be happy too. Children get ranked at the top as a priority, but they don't get to always come first. Please don't try to shame single parents for nurturing themselves and tending to their own needs.

He knew the camera/s would be tracked back to him. He was most likely the only person who had excess to the bathroom other than the child and her mother.
I'm sure he knew if he pled guilty, they'd go light on him and he was correct.

John was married to her. Like most women, she trusted the man she married.
It isn't like she know John Matherne would plant a camera to watch her naked daughter.

They put John in jail yesterday 11/22/19. His family came and picked up his truck and RV. They told us he was sentenced to 2 yrs but would have a mandatory 6 months. So he'll most likely be out on the street in 6 months. His charge was invasive video recording. It should have been invasive video recording of a child under the age of 13.
The police and court let him off easy.
He's basically a sex offender. Had they not of discovered the cameras, he most likely would have gone on to molest and or rape this little girl. He should have to register as a sex offender.

@Stealth83 : I don't know that I agree with you. You are making a judgment of mom based on the end result. You have no idea what the relationship was like, if there were any warning signs she might have been able to pick up on. It's possible the guy gave the appearance of being a perfect gentleman and loving, supportive step father. Mom is going to ls enough going to lay enough of a guilt trip on herself. She doesn't need complete strangers to pile on more guilt.
