The Pearland Police Department is investigating a case against one of their own who is being charged with Invasive Visual Recording. According to reports from PPD, on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018, the Pearland Police Department was notified that Jon Matherne (52, Pearland), who had been employed with the City since 1996 and most recently as a Sergeant in Patrol, was alleged to have committed an act of Invasive Visual Recording. [View Texas Law Here!]Upon learning of the investigation, Mr. Matherne resigned from the Pearland Police Department. Following an investigation, on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018, the Pearland Police Department executed an arrest warrant for Mr. Matherne for the above offense, which is a state jail felony. Mr. Matherne was taken into custody and transported to the Brazoria County Jail where his bond was set at $3,000.00. This incident is still under investigation.
