I thought the water department would make adjustments if you can prove that the excessive usage is due to a leak?
So sorry you are dealing with this.

This almost sounds like theft by deception? There is no way the previous owners didn't know what was going on.

I don't think I would have paid that water bill yet.... but what do I know;... this is the
worst situation for buying a home I have ever heard of.... Where are those guys who read these
things and go after the bad guys ?????

Maybe you should contact Ted Oberg on Channel 13 and see if he can help. Seems he helps a lot of people with problems similar in magnitude as yours.
Did you get a second opinion before you had the plumbing repaired? I would think you have a case against the previous homeowner or the inspector. I hope you can get this rectified.

Unless the house had been vacant for quite a while the seller maybe responsible. There is a Texas law that states sellers must include any known problems with the property to the purchaser.

I know a honest Attorney locally that handles Real Estate.
Michael Culling Manvel TX.
He is a hard working, honest Christian. He is who I would go to.
You have made several mistakes already. But all may be recovered from. Between the seller and inspector they have liability. But both will attack the credibility of the plumber.
He advise and consul will save you 61,000.00. He may take the 400.00.

@MalluGuy : It might be a good idea to contact her and see if she knows or works with anyone in this area. I would also be pretty angry at the home inspector and their real estate agent.

Even replacing all water lines to or from the house doesn't seem it would cost that much???

Only way to spend 61,000 would be to jack up the house a few feet, replace the sewer line under and let back down.
The info here is sketchy, but sounds like a plugged sewer line. With this drought the tree roots and clays shifting are accelerated. One of our neighbors water inlet pipe busted a couple weeks due to gumbo shrinking. Water was bubbling up around the pipe coming out of the ground going into the home. Watered our yard immediately.
We are maybe being fished on this.

@Patty18 : WOW!!!! I thought she was some what of a reputable agent. I have looked at multiple properties listed by her. She is well known in Pearland and has worked in the area for many years. This will reach a ton of people and is not a good look.
