I know someone who's mom is going into assisted living, she is in her late 80's. She wants her daughter to come and get her 6 year old dog and take care of it. If her mom dies before the dog, she wants daughter to have the dog euthanized, and it's ashes put in her coffin. Mom dies tomorrow, daughter should have a young, healthy dog killed.
No reputable vet would do this, but there are some out there...... Daughter is horrified by this request/order. I told her to promise her mom that the dog's ashes will rest with her, just don't give her a time. When the dog passes, have it cremated, and scatter the ashes over her mother's grave. I don't believe her mom is going to know the difference, and this seems like a more humane idea to me.
