@susieq : I do have someone to take this fur baby of mine. Everyone wants her. My daughter would take her but she has 2cats. The three of them get along fine. But it's just too much

I really like everyone saying to plan ahead for your pooch or kitty if something happens.
My little sister would care for any pet in case I'm not able to.
Once I retire I plan on getting another dog. Then I'll work with the bonding between the two.

My nieces and nephews have orders, they will come get and keep the kitties or they are written out of the will.

I know someone who's mom is going into assisted living, she is in her late 80's. She wants her daughter to come and get her 6 year old dog and take care of it. If her mom dies before the dog, she wants daughter to have the dog euthanized, and it's ashes put in her coffin. Mom dies tomorrow, daughter should have a young, healthy dog killed.

No reputable vet would do this, but there are some out there...... Daughter is horrified by this request/order. I told her to promise her mom that the dog's ashes will rest with her, just don't give her a time. When the dog passes, have it cremated, and scatter the ashes over her mother's grave. I don't believe her mom is going to know the difference, and this seems like a more humane idea to me.

Putting down a healthy dog just doesn't seem right.
It's treating the dog as if they have no right to live.
I understand the owner's reasoning, but if pets are family members,- it's odd thinking that it's okay to do.

Give a dog what they deserve.
