After my brother's death I rented 3 different garbage bins to fill with 'stuff'. At least yours is worth donating. Plus 3 months of Heavy Trash removal by the city, plus the metal stuff went out for the pickers to come by and take.

I love finding a place that is throwing out "stuff" ... I hear people talk about what they did
but I never hear about what people are going to do ... I may find a couple of things
I can't live without !! Share the "wealth "" !!!

Seems like your spring cleaning is very productive!

@Stealth83 : My issue! I buy more-my solution… when I get a new shirt or pair of shoes, I have to get rid of an old one.

I used to be the Garage Sale Queen before we moved here... I cleaned out
loads of STUFF that I never needed again... I enjoy stopping to see if there is something
I can't live without... or maybe I could but I can have fun with it in the meantime !!!! and let us know

Today I cleared a closet of empty box's that I saved just in case I had to mail something. Put them in the recycle bin, even though we had the recycle pick up today!
@Blackbird : I want to avoid this type of situation for our kids! So, I started with the empty boxes in the spare closet!

As I read the list of things kids don't want to inherit, I have many of these things. Guess who gave them to me? My kids. I have a cabinet full of Precious Moments figures, all from my kids. I would never buy one myself, I hate dusting. I guess I will have to knock it over by "accident" some day and see how many I can break. Sweaters. This is Houston, and I got 4 new ones for Christmas. China. Paper is my choice of China at this point. Stuffed animals? Don't ask, but some people see to think once you hit 60, you need them. Never mind the fact I have real animals that will quickly destroy, eat the contents, and require a vet visit. Silver. Don't have any, never wanted any. Until the current crop of teens around here, I had the same set of stainless for over 30 years. Every single piece in the set. Craft items. I have nice sewing machines, I have loved using them. I am sure they will be in a thrift store near you some day. What do they want? Jewelry, only the real stuff. Expensive or cast iron cookware. My dogs, everyone wants them. Let's not forget cash. It would be so much easier to just sell everything now, and give them cash. That would work.

The last garage sale we had there were people stealing stuff we were selling. None of it was very expensive and if not mistaken most of the stuff stolen was less than $5. We would have happily given it to them if they asked. We decided we would rather donate or do Facebook porch pickup after that. It's just the principle of people stealing when they had an opportunity that we couldn't get over.

@MalluGuy : Don't get it. People stealing stuff at a garage sale. Do they do this just to do it. I doubt they really need it. Certainly hope they get the help they need one day.

@Megyn1 : We felt so violated especially right in front of us and on our property. My wife actually caught them red handed. They had paid for stuff earlier so they had money. They acted like they spoke no English and we didn't press the issue.
