@Blackbird : I saw this post on Saturday, by someone requesting moving boxes.
Not free, but a source.
"Forgotten Angels sells then for a quarter."
They do have an active fb page.

@Blackbird : I'm so sorry about the loss of your brother. I would just suggest calling your local grocery stores (HEB, Whole Foods, etc) and they will save you their boxes to pickup. They usually just break the boxes down and recycle or trash them. I wish the best to you on your move.

@Blackbird : I bought the big packages of wrapping paper in the Walmart moving supplies section. I used 2 packages for a 4,000 sq. Ft house. They don't make your hands dirty. I bought a huge amount of boxes from Lowe's and Home Depot. Not the answer you are looking for but they were dependable. I went broke on the tape.

@honeask : As much time as I spend/wasted at WallyWorld, I didn't even know they had a moving section, just the answer I wanted! And tape, damn!, but the stuff from the dollar store is near useless. I guess I'll just have to go buy boxes.

I have moved more than 20 times and I suggest not using newspapers for packing material. Buy newsprint, as suggested, or use towels and sheets.

@Blackbird : Yeah, the one at Dixie Farm Road is near the back. I don't recommend their boxes though. The other big box stores have many sizes, which was very helpful. I also used laundry baskets, placing a towel on top then make a big X of tape over them. Moved linens in pillow cases, good luck.

@Blackbird : We just had to box up our whole house because we had carpet removed and had flooring put down.
We bought the boxes from Lowes - they were .99 cents each. We also bought packing paper from them at a good price. We are starting to unpack and have boxes we can give you. I don't remember how to git in touch with you through Pearland. com though. I would be happy to give you these boxes.

@Knk : It is beautiful there, but as with any distant move, there are the good and the bad things. For example, they don't have Tex-Mex there. They have relatively bland Cali-Mex. They have state income tax, but lower property taxes. Home prices are about double what they are here in $/ft2. But when it was 94 degrees here yesterday, it was 77 there. And the scenery is spectacular. I took that photo just a few weeks ago.

@Drew : Nowhere is perfect. Absolutely lovely. What city are you moving to? I love nature and this is more of a place for me to move to. Great choice. Do you have any family or friends there? I wish you lots of happiness there.

@Drew : Absolutely gorgeous and one of the best places to move with beautiful views and lovely weather. Hendersonville and Banner Elk are among the well known places around Smoky Mountains. See the link below. Beautiful views improve your health and longevity+ giving you a ton of mental piece. Good luck!
