@Stealth83 : Try to find someone that lives on acreage you can park it on. You may want to get some sort of carport to protect the roof from rot otherwise I would assume the the cost to park is outrageous. Put an ad on facebook market place or craigslist in Pearland. I'm sure people would call you offering you a place to park for a small fee.

I would like to get a small travel trailer but parking it and wondering what I would do with it in the event of a hurricane have been on my mind.

We have ours at Emma V's. They have covered and uncovered. Uncovered starts at $85 a month and they also have covered, not sure of the price. They live in front of the property, and there are gates. We have had no issues there, other places small things were gone all the time. Caps to water tanks, little stuff. If it looks like a storm is moving in, you go and take it with you, just leave early.

@susieq : I'm not sure if I would have time to move it or evacuate with it. Not sure if I need one more responsibility to worry about in the event of a storm.

@MalluGuy : After the Hurricane Rita Death March, I will take my place to stay with me. I have my 'grab and go" b ox, the dogs, and throw the cats in carriers and leave. I spent 24 hours on the road with Rita and didn't get any farther north than the Woodlands, I learned. Leave early.

@susieq : My SIL did that with her kids, my brother spent most of the day in a bar in Rice Village. After Harvey, I will continue to shelter in place right here, it's already proven not to flood.

Where we were living at that time we were under orders to leave. My husband had to work hurricane crew. If the storm had come in as predicted, our house would have been under water. Soooo, I took a 3 week old, bottle fed kitten, my daughter's Meezer, a Yorkie, another cat that adopted us, a 13 month old baby, and my daughters and headed to Dallas. 24 hours later, we turned back and spent the night with a friend's aunt in Copperfield. Next morning, we drove to College Station on 1/4 tank of gas. Found a vet to leave all the animals but the bottle baby and Yorkie, and drove to Cove, to a nieces house, spent one night, one day, took care of her and her new baby, and drove home. NEVER again.

Oh, good lord.
We're lucky that the house we live in sits on high ground, we couldn't get out of the neighborhood (or the driveway), but the house itself stayed dry. I hope and pray we don't see a bigger flood. We moved the cars to the driveway, but the neighbors who left theirs in the street had water damage. Builders in the 60's knew what they were doing, even if they didn't see the need for enough electrical outlets.

Do you already own the RV you're looking to store, @Stealth?

@Stealth83 : Make sure there is enough storage, and see if you can get an upgrade on the bed to a house style bed or at least an upgrade on the mattress.

I really like the molded fiberglass travel trailers like Casita and Scamp. They seem to hold up better over time vs stick built. What are the advantages of a Class C motor home vs a travel trailer? I already own a 1/2 ton pickup. I figured a travel trailer is better because you can park the travel trailer and then still be able to use your truck to go into town or whatever.
