Fundraiser Benefiting Underserved Young Single Moms and Kids - Pearland

Life Skills House is holding their 2nd Annual Fall Vendor Fair and Family Fun Day Fundraiser at Epiphany Lutheran Church's Gymnasium, 5515 West Broadway, Pearland, TX, 77581, on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit young single moms and children in the community who are struggling financially.

Businesses and organizations interested in sponsorship opportunities and vendor booths should request a sponsor/vendor agreement packet from Leah Gonzales at 832-647-3161, or e-mail [email protected]. Completed packets must be received by Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 4 p.m.

With a national debt of $20 trillion looming over our heads, Life Skills House, a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian organization, was birthed to address the issue of generational poverty. $330 billion is added to that figure each year in order to provide welfare services to single parent families. Statistics show that 80% of young single moms rely on government assistance to sustain their households; on average per year that equates to $30,000 per household. Their focus is on multicultural young women, including but not limited to, those who were victims of human trafficking, those who are pregnant and single mothers from economically challenged backgrounds. They are committed to helping these women transition from surviving to thriving and redirecting the life course of two generations at once. By providing transportation, practical life skills courses, job search assistance, continuing education enrollment assistance, spiritual nurturing and the forthcoming transitional living facility, they strive to give a hand up to those who are seen as a liability in the community so that they not only become active, productive citizens, but also become huge contributors in making our community a better place to reside.
