National Pet Poison Prevention Week: Keep Your Pets Safe
From the
Brazoria County SPCA:
Attention all pet parents!
Did you know it's National Pet Poison Prevention Week? It's crucial to keep our furry friends safe from potential hazards lurking in our homes. Here's a helpful reminder of a few things that can be poisonous to your beloved pets:
Plants: Some common houseplants like lilies, azaleas, and philodendrons can be toxic to pets if ingested.
Medications: Human medications, even over-the-counter ones, can be harmful to pets if consumed accidentally. Keep them securely stored and out of reach.
Chocolate: While a treat for us, chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs and cats. Keep all chocolatey treats well out of reach.
Household Cleaners: Chemicals found in cleaning products can be harmful if licked or ingested by pets. Store them safely away from curious noses.
Grapes and Raisins: These seemingly harmless snacks can cause kidney failure in dogs, so it's best to avoid them entirely.
Art Supplies: Paints, glues, and other craft materials can contain toxic substances that could harm your pets if ingested.
