Plastic Free July: Helpful tips on how to Keep Pearland Beautiful!

Loading Image...

The vision of Keep Pearland Beautiful is to be the cleanest and most beautiful city in Texas.

Did you know cigarette butts are made of a type of plastic called cellulose acetate? Far from biodegradable, when tossed on the street, they never fully break down and leach chemicals and heavy metals into the environment.

This Plastic Free July, you can stop them from becoming litter and help TerraCycle reach their goal of collecting 500 million butts by 2025! They provide a free, year-round Cigarette Waste Recycling Program—the only way to recycle cigarette butts in the US! Visit their website to learn more on how you can recycle your cigarette butts:

‪Another tip is to carry a refillable water bottle and skip plastic bottled drinks. If you regularly head to the park keep a look out for refillable bottle stations.‬

@Dorothy : Yes, I ran into that at Kroger's. I was surprised. HEB happily uses them. Is Kroger's policy because of COVID? LOL, I wasn't sure if it was because of the pandemic or if they were just mad because they were HEB bags.

I just bag it myself, too, HEB, Fiesta, Walmart, none of them seem to care. Whole Foods gives me a discount for my own bags still. I admit, I haven't been to Kroger in a while.
