BCSO Investigators and Crime Stoppers are looking for any information that might help them catch a suspect who attempted to kidnap a 15-year-old female near Alvin over the weekend.
According to reports from BCSO, on 12/05/2018,
Brazoria County Sheriff's Investigators Jeff Mink and Francine Vargas were in the area of the reported attempted abduction conducting follow up interviews in an attempt to locate and identify the suspect or suspect vehicle.
While in the area, the two investigators located a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. When the driver of the vehicle observed the two Investigators, he attempted to flee the area. However, a
Brazoria County Sheriff's Office Patrol unit was able to intercept and stop the vehicle.
The driver of the truck was identified as Steven Salazar, DOB 11/22/1996. Salazar fit the description given of the attempted abductor, however, he denied having any contact with the victim or any involvement with the incident.
Steven Salazar was subsequently arrested after investigators applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Reckless Driving. In addition to the reckless driving charge, Steven Salazar will also be facing a charge of Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.
Investigators were able to positively identify Steven Salazar as being the male that attempted to abduct the 15-year-old victim on Sunday, December 2. Investigators again interviewed Salazar and he gave several inconsistent stories about the incident. Investigators applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Attempted Kidnapping, issued by Judge Richard Davis.
On 12/11/2018,

Brazoria County Jail where he is being held with a $20,000.00 bond.
The investigation is still ongoing. Detectives are probing into the background of Steven Salazar in an attempt to identify any other possible witnesses or potential unidentified victims.
