In an effort to continually improve emergency preparedness for the residents while maintaining fiscal conservatism, the City of Pearland has acquired eight M-1082 LMT 2.5 ton trucks at minimal cost to the City (the cost to transport and maintain) through the Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) Program.
The LESO program is designed to transfer military surplus vehicles to law enforcement agencies at no cost to the agency. Of the eight acquired, six are serviceable, one is in maintenance, and one was acquired as a "parts vehicle."
The plan for their deployment is to staff them with responders from the Police, Fire, and Public Works departments and use them to evacuate flooded neighborhoods. This plan is in the development stages. The trucks manufacturer specs state their fording depth is 30 inches.
