The city of Pearland has announced that Old Alvin Road, between Mchard and the Cockrell Elementary School driveway, will partially open to two-way traffic on Friday, August 17. Traffic between Town Ditch and the school driveway will continue one-way northbound only on the west side of the road. At the driveway, there will be a short transition for northbound traffic from the existing single lane on the west side of the road to two lanes on the east side, with a left-turn lane at the McHard intersection. Oncoming southbound traffic will be one lane, and will only be able to turn left into the driveway, yielding to northbound vehicles.This updated traffic control plan is being implemented to facilitate school traffic in advance of school opening on Monday, August 20, 2018. Please note that this driveway is for school buses, staff and teachers, and special needs parent drop-off/pick-up only. All others will continue to utilize the entrance on McHard.Additional Traffic Advisories will be published as warranted to inform the public of new developments on the project, including changes in traffic circulation patterns as the work progresses. Please obey all construction zone signs and flaggers, and be aware of construction equipment and personnel within the work zone.
