The suspect, Reginald Hawkins (b/m, 18), is charged with capital murder in the 174th State District Court.
Hawkins is charged for his role in the death of That Huu Le, 75.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Barr and M. Perez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the HEB near Blackhawk and the Beltway. Upon arrival, they learned the victim, Mr. Le, had been transported to an area hospital where he died. An investigation revealed two suspects had followed Le to the parking lot where one suspect approached Le as he was exiting his vehicle. A short altercation took place and Le was shot multiple times. Both suspects then fled in a gold-colored sedan.
Further investigation identified Hawkins as a suspect in this case, and on June 1 he was charged with Capital Murder. Hawkins was already in custody on 2 unrelated charges of Aggravated Assault from late April.
The investigation is still ongoing with additional suspects being sought.
