Local family reunites with their dog from Pearland Pets - Animal Services
Does microchipping work? Why microchip your pet? (Besides it’s the law in Pearland).
This is little guy is Valeto. He went missing 5 years ago. Valeto was found as a stray a couple days ago and when scanned for a microchip his original owners were contacted. Valeto and his family were very happy to be reunited!
Microchipping works.
Pearland Law Sec. 6-3. - Microchipping required.
(a)The owner or caretaker of any equine, ferret, dog or cat must have the animal implanted with a registered microchip before the animal attains four (4) months of age.
Pearland Pets scans if an animal is found as a stray or any other situation where they come into contact with the pet. Owners are not required to chip before release but a citation may be issued if the pet does not get chipped in a reasonable amount of time. It’s a fairly new law so they want to make sure folks have time to be educated.
