I've tried to give directions to people like this. It's hopeless.

I'm the same way. I use the rear view mirror. It tells me. Never could figure that one out

Give me a landmark and tell me left or right.

@Inb0913 : I use landmarks when giving directions. I think landmarks help others locate themselves with respect to a specific destination more easily.

Trust me, I used to field directions questions to a store I worked at. "You have to go east" "Is that a l or a r?" "Depends what direction you're going, do you know where downtown is?" 'No".
I mean, they lived in Houston, and downtown isn't a good enough landmark?

@Knk : That's a good idea however what happened if the landmark isn't there anymore?

@Inb0913 : I had a lady who was really **** I didn't know where the elementary school she was passing was located. She did know what road she was on, but couldn't give me a cross street; not one she'd passed, or one she was coming up on. Still wanted to know left or right, though, I'd have gone by the sun, but it was noon.
