@GoOilers2019 : Gas used to be cheap enough you could do that occasionally and not have to worry about it. When gas is $8 a gallon shortly it might be harder to justify.

I saw this a couple of years ago, as well as the heater made from clay pots and candles. I have also had a friend who cooked on tea lights in a muffin tin with a sheet pan on top of it. Lots of ideas on how to manage if you have to. We still keep talking about a generator, but with gas prices, I expect natural gas will also be going up. That alone can make it cost prohibitive. Guess we need to check into a solar generator for summer.

@damascus1986 : The only issue with this is your dumping even more humidity into the room. What are you doing for ice? If you have the space it may be worth pre freezing and having on hand a few blocks of Ice or at least a few frozen plastic one gallon jugs of water.

@MalluGuy: yea not too much extra space we would probably run to bucces if power shut off and grab some bags other than that we have our ice tray . I do have a way to power the fridge for at least a few days. In the video we used some of the frozen bacon and things we had. Also heard of some putting in a tray so air can travel under the ice maybe for better cooling. Some may laugh but if it's 95 out and ercot fails I'll be laughing haha. We have a small block in the blue containers thats frozen but our freezers are full of food!

@damascus1986 : I'm assuming freezing ice in containers so there isn't residual water from melting ice inside the cooler would help with reducing the amount of humidity you would be pushing into the room. I wonder if dry ice could be used efficiently.

@MalluGuy: good idea drybice could be used. Some said freeze salt water but others analysis led to that would result in Colder air but the ice may melt faster. Haha I just wanted to show everyone our little project . We actually have a small one from Amazon we got on a super off deal as well . Just thinking of ways to keep our place cool be it ercot failing or hurricane. What about gel freezer packs? No humidity, and no excess water to deal with. The ones I have seen used had frozen gallon jugs of water in them.
