@Stealth83 : Well, for one thing, this isn't college. What if a kid can't afford to buy the book, can you borrow a copy? Does this not defeat the whole purpose of the class? If he wanted to teach the book, and then let the kids review it, maybe that would be ok, but I still wouldn't go for it. He is making money from the sale, and getting free advertising by the reviews.

Kids who couldn't/wouldn't buy his books got assigned one to read, then had to write a *20+* page paper. In Jr High! The review took the place of the paper, and was an automatic A.
The report said Amazon has already taken his pages down, which I just verified.

@Stealth83 : I still see it as self serving and not kosher for a teacher to be doing at this grade level.

Yes, I had to buy books in high school, Lord of the Flies, The Pearl, Animal Farm, but the teacher did not profit from these purchases. Nor did he get a review to boost his standings. I just had to write a book report on these books.

IF he were asking for book reports, maybe. Positive reviews? Uh, no.

I'd like to know who published his books. The point of a college text book vs. a middle school teacher's offering thru Amazon could be very different. The college level would be published after approval from a board, and done by an accredited publishing company. His book may or may not have been certified, maybe he was a 3d party seller and his pamphlet was done by a vanity publishing company. Maybe not, but it still smacks of 'pay to play' to me.
The rules for the grade even states they can't mention that he is their teacher, or that they are in a class.
