According to the BCSO, on 02/25/2018 at approximately 2:00 PM the
Brazoria County Sheriff's Office Communications Division received a phone call in reference to a possible rooster fighting operation, also referred to as **** fighting, in the 17,700 block of Wells Drive in Pearland.
Patrol Deputies responded to the area and discovered a very large number of vehicles and individuals to be on scene. Deputies were able to detain numerous individuals after discovering a very large scale, elaborate, ****-fighting operation.
Criminal Investigators and
Brazoria County Animal Control Division were summoned to the scene after numerous live roosters as well as several roosters were found that are believed to have been killed during the fighting event. Investigators have seized 165 birds that are currently being housed at BCSO Animal Control. The exact number of deceased birds is hard to be determined but is believed to be between 30-50.
Sheriff's Office Investigators arrested and transported 50 individuals from the location and they are currently being held at the
Brazoria County Sheriff's Office Detention Center where charges of **** Fighting, State Jail Felony, were filed on three of the individuals (pictured below) and Charges of **** Fighting, Class C Misdemeanor, were filed on the remaining 47 subjects.
The disposition of the birds will be determined by a
Brazoria County Court upon completion of the seizure proceedings.
