I am wondering if you know anyone that pays this, and how it is justified?

@Magnolia832 : This is so unreal. I don't know of anyone who does pay this. There isn't many people I know that works.

I'm sure that's what I paid yesterday coming home from IAH at 5P.M. after a 16 hour flight. I just wanted to get home and I didn't care how much it was. I flew down the HOV while the free lanes were a parking lot. That is exactly where I entered shadow creek ranch because I missed the BLTW8 service road exist I usually take to exit Shadow Creek Parkway.

Yup, there are some days I just don't want to deal with traffic. Because of where I live I can pick driving E on 610 or 8, some times and days, 8 is just the way to go. Same with N bound, I can choose surface streets or 8, but it be 30 minutes difference if I just pay the toll for just a few miles.
I admire your stamina, I've endured 9 or 10 hour flights, but never 16! I think I'd have opted for a flight from Hobby to IAH in your case, lol. Of course, I bet that would have added 2+ hours to your trip.

Equal to 2.5 gallons of gas, my SUV could go for 42 miles… I would rather take the long way around.

@MalluGuy : I totally understand paying whatever it costs to finally get home sometimes, but it would be a rare occasion.

I won't drive 59, 610 or 45. When I go to IAH I take Beltway all the way. It's about $19 round trip. I go visit friends in Tomball and it's 17.50 round trip, but that is a much long drive than a few miles on 288 where they bleed you for almost 11 dollars to get to med center and then 13 to park. Ouch....

I have paid the toll all the way from Magnolia to 59 once. It was pouring rain, wrecks on all the other roads, and I had to be somewhere for an appointment. It was a need to or it wouldn't have happened. I avoid tolls as much as possible. My husband isn't that picky, he will just, "pay what you need to get there faster," kind of person.

I wonder how many people pay those tolls for work and allowed to expense them back to the company?

That's what I was going to say, sure that many employees get some
kind of compensation to drive into the med center.
Pearland home builders for decades have sung the values of living only minutes
from Houston's medical center.

I try to avoid toll roads. I can understand using them when necessary but not on a regular basis as it seems like a waste of money.

What can we do to make these money stealing tollway executives realize they're ripping us off!? We are double the cost of the Westpark tollway that got allot of attention when they opened!
Please Advise!?
