At least you never had to replace batteries in those original remotes! One thing I did miss about the old analog tv dials was that they had a fine tune knob unlike the digital tuned ones that came later.

Wait, I don't see any aluminum foil on an antenna for that tv! I don't even see an antenna. How are they ever going to pick up a signal?

Years ago, Mother Earth News suggested if you lived way out in the middle of nowhere, get an all metal set of bed springs. Hook that up for an antenna and it should help your reception. Of course they didn't suggest how you move the thing if you wanted to change channels!

One thing I noticed in the picture right away was that the sofa did not have a plastic sofa cover. I can't ever remember sitting directly on the fabric couches in our house growing up. They all has those horrible plastic covers that would stick to your skin. There was even a time my parents had plastic runners all throughout the house covering the carpeted floors.

I think that photo is of me… where'd that come from? 😂
Dad told me that he used to set his beer down on the floor next to his lazy boy while watching teevee and when he'd look down to pick it up, I'd be there taking a few drinks from the bottle!

I remember looking for the free TV program schedule in the paper along with the funnies on Sunday mornings because we never had the TV guide growing up.

@MalluGuy : My grandmother had subscriptions to both TVGuide and Reader's Digest. I couldn't wait to get to her house on the weekend so I could try and memorize the TV schedule and read the jokes in Reader's Digest while the adults were in the kitchen playing penny poker. What a time that was!
