@Blackbird : That is so true. But it is the same with many other breeds. I call it the Disney Effect. Any time Disney made a movie and used a certain breed, it pretty much ruined the breed. Lady and the Tramp ruined Cockers. Cockers were used for hunting. Over breeding to get them out quickly they no longer hunt. Many have health issues that were not there before, and they are not always the best dog for children. 101 Dalmations wrecked that breed. They are also a working breed, not geared to be a cuddly family dog. When the dogs do not respond like the cartoon, they are discarded. There are breeders trying to repair/preserve many of the breeds that have been so manipulated. Over the last 40 years, I have purchased 1 dog, and even she was a rescue of sorts. There are so many that need homes. I have had Labs, Yorkies, Poodles, and many mutts. It isn't like there are not enough rejects in the world to go around. OK, off my soapbox.
