Pearland PD Nets Fleeing Duo, Alvin With The Assist
Just after 11PM on Wednesday (3/8/17) night, a Pearland patrol officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle near Main St. and Bailey Road. The driver ignored the lights and sirens and sped south down Main away from the officers.
The vehicle continued to head south out of Pearland, so the
Brazoria County Sheriff's Office and Alvin Police Department were notified.
An Alvin PD unit positioned themselves ahead of the suspects and deployed a spike strip, which disabled at least two of the vehicle's tires. The vehicle came to a stop in the 2900 block of CR 190.
..but there was still a little work left to be done.
The passenger stayed put in the vehicle, but the driver decided to make a run for it. The Pearland officer, who had been in the chase since the beginning, headed after the suspect on foot. The suspect climbed over a nearby fence with the officer following suit, subsequently injuring his hand. The officer was still able to close ground on the suspect and eventually detain him.
The driver was identified and charged...
Erik James Fannin

Felony Evading With Vehicle
Outstanding Warrant
The passenger was arrested for an outstanding warrant as well.
Both were taken to the Pearland City Jail.
The Pearland officer who injured his hand while chasing after the driver was treated for minor lacerations and released at the scene.
Thanks for the great work, officers!
