Does anyone know why city employees were using the booms in Mary's Creek alongside Southfork today? Was there a spill? Road runoff? Thanks

@Stealth83

That's what they call the noodles that they stretch out to contain or absorb oil, etc. Technically, water booms.

There was a very strong gasoline smell from the gas station on Cullen and Fite on Sunday evening. The gas station was barricaded off that night. When I drove by this morning the gas pumps were still barricaded. There had to be some kind of spill from that gas station. I'm not sure why there has not been a report about that yet.

That's why they were working in the area according to this article.

"The diesel fuel and gasoline runoff moved through the smaller canal and ended up in the large canal where the Resolute Environmental Trucks worked to contain the fluids and pump out of the canal with floating absorption barricades. This is not the first time that this has happened; hopefully it's the last." ~ Southwyck Association President John Fisher

I remember passing by there on Sunday, was wondering what happened there as there were several emergency vehicles there.

Thanks for the input everyone. Hope they were able to resolve the issue and prevent future spills. I've seen people kayak and fish in there over the years and always wondered about the safety of it when coming in contact with that water.

I wondered what happened at that gas station! And then I saw them with the booms and wondered what that was all about, too! Thanks for the info!
