Next in Pearland Police Department’s series for Women’s History Month is Officer Natisha Lucas. Officer Lucas was born in Baltimore, Maryland and lived in 5 different states throughout the US, including Fort Sherman, Panama. Officer Lucas’ parents were active in the US Army throughout her upbringing, and she credits them for her passion to serve her community. Upon her father’s retirement from the US Army, he became a Police Officer for the City of St. Louis - 3rd District, where he served for 12 years.
Officer Lucas graduated from Lawrence E. Elkins High School in Missouri City, before obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston Downtown. She was a Supervisor for the Harris County Toll Road Authority for 6 years, prior to beginning her career in law enforcement with Pearland PD in January 2007.
Officer Lucas has served as a Patrol Officer for 16 years and enjoys getting out in the community and interacting with the citizens in her beat on the west side of town.
Officer Lucas has served as a member of the Honor Guard for 13 Years, as a Hostage Negotiator on the Combined Agency Response Team for 12 years, and serves as the Police Security Coordinator for Shadow Creek Ranch HOA,
Brazoria County MUDD District 26, and Fort Bend County MUDD District 1.
In 2013, Officer Lucas received a Life Saving Award for saving a newborn baby. Lucas received a Chief of Police Citation Award for her actions during a bank robbery call, a Unit Citation Award for her response during a weapons disturbance, and was the 2016 Knights of Columbus Officer of the Year for her actions during a bank robbery.
Officer Lucas enjoys spending time with her two sons and daughters, and enjoys traveling. Officer Lucas’ most favorite destination so far has been Jamaica.
