Stay Cool and Stay Safe: Heat Safety Tips for August

In the month of August, the Pearland Police Officer's Association - FOP Lodge 119 would like to talk about "Heat Safety." As summer temperatures reach their pinnacle, it's important to remind everyone of the risks associated with excessive heat and provide guidance on how to stay safe. They’ve provided a short list of tips that will make the summer heat a little less dangerous should you follow them:
ð—¦ð˜ð—®ð˜† ð—›ð˜†ð—±ð—¿ð—®ð˜ð—²ð—±: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine consumption as they can contribute to dehydration.
ð—¦ð—²ð—²ð—¸ ð—¦ð—µð—®ð—±ð—² ð—®ð—»ð—± ð—¦ð˜ð—®ð˜† ð—–ð—¼ð—¼ð—¹: Seek shade during the hottest parts of the day, especially between 10 am and 4 pm. Use fans, air conditioning, or cooling centers to keep cool at home or in public spaces.
ð——ð—¿ð—²ð˜€ð˜€ ð—ªð—²ð—®ð˜ð—µð—²ð—¿ ð—”ð—½ð—½ð—¿ð—¼ð—½ð—¿ð—¶ð—®ð˜ð—²ð—¹ð˜†: They recommend wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing made of breathable fabrics to help stay cool. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses can also provide additional protection from the sun.
