Pearlanders are invited to a special public forum where recent state laws will be explained and their potential impact on Pearland discussed. The goal is to give residents clear, useful information about these changes.The forum will be held this evening at 6:30 PM at the Glenda Dawson High School Auditorium.Attendees will learn about Local Government Code Chapter 218 and the key provisions of the new state rules, along with how local decision-making intersects with statewide housing needs. Speakers will outline the housing actions taken at the state level and what outcomes the community can expect. A question and comment period will follow so the community can weigh in directly.The forum opens with a welcome from Mayor Quentin Wiltz, who will walk attendees through the meeting format. Michael Martin of the Texas Municipal League will then explain the state law changes and what they mean for cities. From there, a panel moderated by Jim Johnson featuring Texas House Representatives Jeff Barry, Dennis Paul, and Cody Vasut, along with Michael Martin will discuss how cities are responding and what changes Pearlanders may notice in the years ahead.The forum closes with a public Q&A session led by Mayor Wiltz, followed by closing remarks.
