Hey Everyone I need some advise! I'm thinking about putting an above ground pool in my backyard.
It will be 24' X 12' 52" deep.
What are your pros and cons if you have or had one?
Did it increase your electric bill a lot?
I have plenty of yard space so that's not an issue. This sticks mark where it will go!
Thanks

@Patty18 : My family had one when we were kids, but it was steel. 🩳
I don't think the pools are made of metal material any longer.
It only lasted a few years, then turned it into a snapping turtle container.
It'll be interesting to hear what others have to say. 🐢

@Txtoast: I hope it will last longer then a couple of yrs. It's not near as expensive as an inground but not as cheap as I thought!

@Patty18 : a big expense and maintenance.
Our subdivision has a pool, so Ill never have to think about a pool.

@Patty18: I had one when my grandkids were little and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It lasted 2 or 3 years but I think they've come a long way in making them now. If you get one make sure you level the ground out with sand. I don't remember my light bill being any higher. I did let the water company know how many gallons of water it took or the size of it, and they didn't charge me to fill it. Good Luck! Maybe build a deck around it. We had so much fun in that pool.

settling on the bottom of the pool !!!! and yes that water
will be hard to clean.... and yes ,,, your bills will increase ..
sorry ... it all sounds negative... but it won't be free of needs
and charges

Came here to see if anyone made a comment about the hassle that tree will give you with cleaning the pool. Other than that we have ALWAYS enjoyed the fun over the hassles! It's hot, get the pool, lol!

You can always invest in a good cover to help keep the leaves out. Or, even better, put the grandsons to work cleaning it before they get to jump in and swim!

We had one for several years. The grands loved it, and so did the dog. Original purchase reason? PT for the dog after knee surgery. It worked great, as long as she was wearing her life vest. Only Lab I have ever seen that wouldn't swim without one. Yes, water and electricity will go up, and don't forget pool chemicals. To us, it was absolutely worth it. My husband changed it over to a salt filter since chlorine bothers me, and we were happier with that. Yes to the net, and the built in pool boys you should have.

@Km6464: the pool I'm looking at comes with a cover. I have no trees in my yard but my back fence neighbor has 2 which hang over.

@susieq: thank you!! The pool I'm looking at comes with a cover and a salt filter.
I'm still on the fence as to what I'm going do!
I have a company that will be leveling the ground which is a big expense $3100.00. That's probably my biggest obstacle. 🤷♀️

Wow, that is a lot! My husband also bought a larger filter than what came with the pool because he did not feel that one was large enough. We have talked about getting another one, but I am not sure how much it would be used now. The grands are grown, and Chloe is NOT a water dog.
