That would be a good idea! They would definitely understand our needs more if they were living the same daily life as the rest of us.

Or, maybe we should live more like them. Better health care options supplemented or provided by our tax dollars or employers that are responsive to the consumer, not big health care lobbies, worker protections and pensions and ample vacations provided by our employers like used to be standard if you dedicated many years to a company. Large corporations have reduced employees so much they have no ability to ensure flexibility in their work force, thus making it difficult for them to provide family leave for new parents or emergencies. Subsidized child care, early learning programs, and subsidized higher education or job training through government programs or employer benefits would help everyone.
Democratic Socialism is not communism, despite the fear mongering by the TV talking heads. Trickle down capitalism has never trickled very far from the top. It's time to look at our priorities and create a better system that takes care all parts of society to alleviate crime, undereducation, and underemployment and insure we can all achieve a peaceful and productive life.

The Kool-aid falls from the tree on both sides. Everyone thinks their politicians are on their side. We can rethink politics, but not with the current octogenarian leadership. James Talarico and Marquette Green Scott are the change we need for new ideas in Texas and our district. What we have doesn't seem to be working too well, but to each his own opinions.
