Hello Pearland. I want to introduce myself to you.My name is Carlos Townsend, Sr. I'm running for Brazoria County Commissioner, Pct. 2.
I lived in Houston for more than 38 years and have been a member of the Pearland Community for about 5 years. I'm divorced and the father of three sons. I have one grandchild who often visits my home here.
I began my work career with 4 years in the US Air Force as a Jet Mechanic (Vietnam Era), after which I have worked for more than 47 years as a Software Engineer.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.
I have been both a small business owner and an employee in Texas. My work experiences include the following industries. Oil and Gas, Chemical, Banking, Insurance, Health Care, Transportation, Airlines, Education, Government, and Warehousing.
I have also been an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Houston City College and San Jacinto College for more than 36 years.My Beliefs:1. Roads and infrastructure.
Every day, families drive on roads filled with potholes, congestion, and drainage problems that should have been addressed years ago. Businesses rely on dependable transportation routes. Emergency responders depend on clear, safe access.
As your County Commissioner, I will prioritize:
• Proactive road maintenance instead of reactive patchwork repairs
• Long-term infrastructure planning
• Transparent project timelines so taxpayers know where their money is going
Infrastructure isn't political - it's practical. And we can do it smarter.

2. Responsible Budgeting & Lower Tax Burden
Second - responsible budgeting.
Families are tightening their belts. The government should, too.
We must:
• Conduct performance reviews of county departments
• Eliminate wasteful spending
• Prioritize essential services before new initiatives
• Increase financial transparency so every resident can see how dollars are spent
Taxpayers deserve accountability. Every dollar collected should serve a clear, measurable purpose.

We must:

• Improve emergency response coordination

• Invest in technology that helps protect neighborhoods
Public safety is not negotiable. It is foundational.
