Four Face Murder Charges After Man Shot Dead Near Apartment PoolFour people are facing murder charges after a man was shot and killed at a Pearland apartment complex early Sunday morning. Police said the shooting happened around 4:56 a.m. in the 2400 block of Business Center Drive, after officers got calls about a disturbance and gunshots near the complex's pool area. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. They tried to save him, but he died at the scene. Police identified him as 35 year old Shane Chambers.According to investigators, 32 year old Jamica Delance Scott went to an apartment where his ex girlfriend lived, and a fight broke out. During the confrontation, two men inside the apartment tried to get away by jumping off a second floor balcony. Police said Scott then went downstairs and fired a gun, hitting Chambers. Scott then got into a vehicle and tried to leave. Officers were told that a car carrying people connected to the shooting was driving away, so they found the vehicle, made a high risk traffic stop, and detained all four people inside.After speaking with the Brazoria County District Attorney's Office, police arrested and charged all four people. Jamica Scott, 32, Jamon Delance Scott, 30, and James Undra Cooper Jr., 35, are each charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and burglary of a habitation. Shanel Janaye Carter, 32, is charged with murder and burglary of a habitation. Police said Jamon Scott, Cooper, and Carter were charged as "parties to the offense," meaning police believe they helped in the crime even though they did not fire the gun.
