Here is some helpful info on the City of Pearland's ordinance for peddlers and solicitors.
In general, the ordinance says that any person engaging in the door to door sale, solicitation, or barter of goods must have a permit issued by the City of Pearland to do so. It is also unlawful for any peddler to enter private property when signs stating "No Peddlers Allowed," "No Solicitations Allowed," or other words to such effect are posted. For those obtaining a permit they must also follow stringent guidelines regarding times to solicit. It violates city ordinance if the solicitor engages within the city half an hour before sunset and 9 a.m. the following morning, or at any time on Sundays.
If a solicitor comes to your door, feel free to ask them to see their "Peddlers Badge". All requesting to solicit must have their physical badge which can be issued by the City Secretary's Office. If a solicitor does not have their credentials feel free to contact the Pearland Police Department at 281-997-4100 to report and we will dispatch an officer to your location.
Keep in mind, the City does not issue "digital" permits...all will be physical.
Lastly, there are certain groups exempt from this law. Political candidates and those canvassing for their election, individuals canvassing with commercial flyers, religious organizations and alarm companies are all exempt.
