Cracker Barrel is now charging for their biscuits and cornbread

@Megyn1 : The last time we were there was over a year ago, and I had to ask to get any and they were supposed to be included with our meal.

@GoOilers2019 : I agree. Cheddars used to charge for their croissants. Then they started giving them to you . However, they went up $1 on most items on the menu. So they really are not free but in the customers mind, it feels like you are getting something for free. I think it is a good idea to ask if you want the "free" bread etc. so there would not be so much waste.

@Musicmaker : personally I never really thought they were all that anyway. Went to busy bee a couple weekends ago and it was probably the best breakfast I've had in a while. And it was only the 3rd time I've been there since they've been there

I'm aware enough to know that 'free shipping' means 'costs more for the product', and I can't eat all of what most places serve as an entrée anyways, so I don't mind paying extras for rolls or side salads. As a matter of fact, if my meal comes with a salad I've always told them to pack it to go and bring it with the check. Same thing with soup.
But no place better ever charge for my chips and salsa!

@Michael1960 : I am inclined to agree with you. I make both myself when we want them, so eating biscuits or cornbread out isn't that big a deal.

Late reading this, but this past weekend we went to a place in Sugar Land area. We ordered an appetizer that came with chips. They asked us if we wanted more, of course we did we still had more appetizer. At end of meal we saw that the "extra" chips cost us $2 plus. Management was called in to take that off of our bill. But can you imagine our shock at this.

I went about 3 weeks ago and I asked about that and they told me that biscuits and corn bread come with the meal. I did not pay extra for them.

Never cared much for them anyway.

@Musicmaker : That's not good. Prices have all gone up already and now Freebies aren't Free? They are already built in the prices!
