CLEAR Alert Issued for Pearland Woman Last Seen in Red SUVA statewide CLEAR Alert has been issued for 25-year-old Bethany Lin of Pearland. She left her home in a red SUV around 2:50 a.m. Thursday and has not been seen since. Her cell phone was turned off shortly after she drove away from the 2700 block of Ravens Creek Drive. She was last seen wearing a baggy T-shirt over a tight tube top or sports bra and pants. Anyone with information should call the Pearland Police Department at 281-997-4316.Police raised the alert because Lin has a mental health condition and was believed to be in crisis when she left. Under Texas law, a CLEAR Alert for adults ages 18 to 64 is only used when the person is in serious danger or the disappearance may not have been voluntary. Most adults can leave home on their own, so police must show clear reasons before sending out this kind of emergency notice.The CLEAR Alert system was created by the Texas Legislature in 2019 to help find missing adults who fall between the age groups covered by other alerts. It was supported by parent advocate Alison Steele and honors several crime victims, including a young college student who died in 2017. The Texas Center for the Missing, which sent out this alert, was started in 2000 by a Houston woman after her teenage son disappeared and died.Pearland sits across three counties, which makes searching more difficult.
