Brazoria County Bans Outdoor Fires as Drought Risk Grows Brazoria County has issued a burn ban effective immediately. This is because conditions are getting drier, and a measurement called the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) is rising. When this happens, fires can spread faster and are harder to put out. Right now, no outdoor burning is allowed. This includes open fires, burning yard debris, controlled burns, and burning anything outside a container that fully traps flames and sparks.
