Another great interview by Texas Senate candidateJames Talarico.

James Talarico responds to Donald Trump's grade school level 'Talafreako' taunts. The Democratic Texas Senate candidate, who currently leads weakened by ethics charges, Ken Paxton, said he won't lower himself to trading insults with the President of the United States.

Asked about the insults on CBS he said:

"I think a lot of people in our state voted for President Trump in the last election because they thought he was going to lower prices," he replied. "They thought he was going to end the forever wars. They thought he was going to release the Epstein files. They thought he was going to drain the swamp."

"It's why a lot of people in my family voted for President Trump," he acknowledged. "But just a year into this administration, prices are up because of these crazy tariffs. There's a new forever war in Iran. The Epstein files have not fully been released and the swamp is bigger than it's ever been before."

"So, there's a lot of people in our state, including a lot of the president's former supporters, who are feeling disillusioned," he added.

Talarico said his job is "to extend an open hand to those voters and invite them to join this movement that we're building, a movement of working people coming together to take on the billionaire mega donors and the corrupt politicians that are screwing us over."

"And so, that's what I'm going to stay focused on. These nicknames don't lower the price of groceries. These nicknames don't lower the price of gas or utilities or health care. These nicknames don't actually improve any of our lives."

"I'm running for office to serve the people of Texas, to make people's lives easier and better and less stressful," he continued. "So, I'm not going to engage in the silly nicknames back and forth. I'm going to keep focused on the people of Texas and their needs."

When asked about the smear campaign, Talarico said he didn't think the relentless insults from Trump and other Republicans would be effective in deciding the upcoming election in November and responded with a positive effect it has had.

"Anyone can go to our website, JamesTalarico.com, and buy their very own 'I'm a Talafreako' T-shirt," he said. "It's our best-selling item on our web store."

REGISTER TO VOTE NOW! The deadline to register is coming up fast in less than a month. Republicans, scared they can't win on the issues, are making it more difficult for women who have had a name change in the past, so give yourself enough time to gather documents like a birth certificate and marriage licenses.

Check your registration if you have voted recently, or even if you voted in the primary, since they also removed 1 million people that may have had an address change or haven't voted recently at www.VoteTexas.gov

Don't let the politicians that want fewer citizens to be able choose who affects their daily lives steal your vote. The power lies with the people, not the politicians.

@Truthdog :
Why must you ruin a holiday morning with your political rhetoric.
There are other groups you should go to for this.

@CPres :
Labor Day was created to honor the workers. We wouldn't have most holidays or weekends without worker representation through unions, which Republicans and their corporate mega donors want to destroy to keep wages and worker protections down. Labor day is the best day to promote a candidate that stands up for unions and the workers in our country that can't afford the rent, groceries or gasoline.

Edit:
Also, elections affect our community, this is a community forum.

We still have the privilege of free speech in this country and in this state. I can't stand by and ignore the assaults on that right and all the rights we have fought to attain in our contitution while our President and Supreme court try to take a shredder to it. Being quiet and not trying to support people who will try to ensure our rights and make our lives safer and better is not the answer to voting suppression and intimidation tactics by the politicians in charge. We need change in leadership to get us out of the mess the United States has gotten into. We also need people who are going to keep our public lands protected. Places like Big Bend, Yosemite and many wilderness areas. Yes, I seem disruptive to people's sense of calm. We need people to wake up and pay attention to the forces that try to use fear to control them.
Power to the people! Support local candidates and most of all vote!

By Power to the People! I mean the people have the power to change the future.
In the ads that Paxton's campaign are using are AI pictures and things James Talarico never said to try to make it seem like his faith as a Christian is suspect. There is a disclaimer on the video that states they used AI to put fake words in his mouth and used fake images.
Politicians that can't stand on their own record or pledge of future actions and only recourse is to put up fake videos to trash their opponents are not worthy of our votes. It's pretty clear that Paxton can't use his own record to run on. Even his own party voted to impeach him. How is this the best candidate the party could come up with?
Adam Kinzinger has a really good substack account that I follow. He is Republican that put country and oath of office over party pressure. He is fighting the good fight to encourage people to believe that ethics matter and regain the party that left decent people behind.
