9/11 A Day of Remembrance We lived in New Jersey, an hour from New York City. We could see the smoke and smell the fire. We knew people who worked on Wall Street. We watched the silhouette of our son, an Army Ranger, jump from a plane into Afghanistan. We were forever impacted by the horrible deed of this day. Do the people of this area feel the emotion of September 11?

@Musicmaker :
I can only imagine how deeply that affected you, living so close to the city and having a family member serving in the military at that time. It was all over the news here and we watched in shock with the rest of the world. I have a friend that had moved here from New York. Her parents and sister were still living there. My friend was pregnant with her second child and went into labor on 9/11. She was in the hospital giving birth to her son and watching the news of the attack. Phone lines in New York were down so she couldn't reach her family to see if they were OK or to let them know that her son was born. Thankfully, her family was fine and everything worked out OK but it was a scary time.

@Musicmaker : Quite an ordeal for your family to go through which
created a lasting memory.
I had at that time a close friend in the Navy that had gone on lock down,
it was an anxious period.
Yes, remembrance on this day, 9/11. πΊπ²

@Musicmaker: Oh my I can't fathom what you saw, but I surely sympathize with you and everyone who experienced that day that touched so many lives. It was tragic for all Americans that day. β€οΈ
