Cash Flies Out of Truck Window During Pearland Police ChaseTwo men from Florida are in jail after a police chase in Pearland where the driver threw handfuls of cash out of his truck. It started around 6 p.m. on September 16, when someone called police about a man in a mask using several different cards at a bank ATM on Broadway Street and taking out a lot of money. Witnesses said the man then got into the passenger seat of a white GMC Sierra, and the truck drove away.Police used the department's drone program to help track the truck down, and found it in a business parking lot on Smith Ranch Road. The passenger got out and tried to walk away, but an officer stopped him. The driver sped off. As officers followed him north on Smith Ranch Road, east on McHard Road, and then onto Max Road, he threw large amounts of cash out the window. Police dash camera video caught the money flying. The truck finally stopped on Max Road, where officers arrested the driver without any more trouble.Officers picked up more than $6,000 that had been thrown from the truck. Police identified the passenger as Tarvares Givens, who was charged with failure to identify, and the driver as Levon Steven Jr., who was charged with evading arrest and tampering with evidence. Both men were being held at the Brazoria County Jail. Detectives say the case is still open, and the men could face more charges related to fraud.
