80 years of service Brazoria County Library

@Txtoast : I truly appreciate their work. As a child I used to love spending time in the library and taking books home to read. I wish more kids were encouraged to pick up books these days instead of electronic devices.

@Drew : Yes, lots of good memories and books that became treasures.
A great place for every child to visit and stay for awhile .
Maybe with the heat more kids will come inside to keep cool.

If you haven't gone in a while to the library, I encourage you to give it another chance and take a look. A friend of mine didn't understand why libraries still existed . He thought it's outdated. I took him to pearland library and the experience changed his mind! Westside has a 3D printer for your use. They have online magazines and newspapers you can "checkout."
In addition, current music and DVDs can be streamed from online or checked out.
They have a calender full of events for people of all ages. It's a wonderful way to meet new people living in pearland!

I had to go look back on Pinterest to find these. I started school in September 1963 at what was Brookside Elementary now known as Lawhon Elementary. Our first grade class was the inaugural year. Anyway it didn't have a library yet so we had the bookmobile visit once a month. I counted the days❤️And might I add we got the threat from the teacher all that morning. There would be no dillying or dallying around. Get in, get out and behave. We had to whisper in the bookmobile as if we were in the big libraries.

When we lived in Chicago, my ex-dil (she was a child then), relied on the Bookmobile which visited her neighborhood despite the fact that we had a good library back them. She lived in Skokie with her parents and the bookmobile came right into her neighborhood.As for me, the north branch of the Evanston Library was within walking distance.
