Each year, the City of Pearland's Natatorium closes during the month of August to allow for maintenance, cleaning and repairs. This year's extended closure will occur from Monday, August 5th to Tuesday, August 27th, due to the renovation of the Natatorium's pool deck and locker rooms. The Natatorium will reopen on Wednesday, August 28th.

Despite the closure, Recreation Center and Natatorium members will continue to have access to a pool during this time. Members will be able to utilize the pool at the Vic Coppinger Family YMCA at no additional cost. Pool access includes water fitness classes, lap swim, and open swim. Members must show their keytag to YMCA staff.

Residents can also cool down at the splash pads located at both Centennial and Southdown parks.

This year's maintenance will include the organization and cleaning of pump and chemical rooms; daily checks of pool water chemistry and filtration system; deep cleaning of all natatorium equipment, offices and the meet room; painting of the meet room; and backwash of both pools.

In addition to the above maintenance, a contractor will oversee the renovation of the natatorium pool deck. The existing deck surface shows significant signs of wear and the new deck will improve safety, functionality, and provide a refreshed look.

The pool has been closing frequently due to many issues. I hope the maintenance will take care of that

This is exactly why I decided not to become a member. Have they ever fixed the pool heater? If not then why not close it during the winter months for repairs.

PatricesPassion : The heater was fixed finally after 4 months. The heater for the lap lanes was never broken. The problem was only for the aqua aerobics and for parents taking kids in that pool. Lap swimming was fine. They keep the lap lanes a bit colder to begin with but still not too cold.

carymc1 : I suggest LA Fitness on Pearland Parkway instead of the Natatorium for aqua aerobics. They have it 6 mornings per week from 9 am to 10 am and they also have a few afternoons (I don't go in the afternoon because of the traffic). They cost more than the Natatorium for memberships, but to me it is worth it.

That would be nice since it is not too far from my house - however I work during the day so it would not do me any good. Thank you though for thinking of me !

carymc1 : Maybe go when you get off work, if you can. They do have classes later in the evening, I think.
Just looked Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm are their late classes. They have a Saturday morning class at 9 am to 10 am as well.
