Board to Review Pearland ISD's Top Financial Rating Tonight Pearland ISD's board of trustees will look over the district's latest financial report card at its meeting on Oct. 13. The district earned an "A" rating for the 2025-26 rating year, which is based on data from the 2024-25 school year. During the meeting, the board will also hold a public hearing, giving community members a chance to learn about the rating and share their thoughts. The rating comes from the Texas Education Agency's Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, often called FIRST. This system checks how well school districts manage their money. Its goal is to make sure districts send as much funding as possible toward teaching and learning in the classroom. Pearland ISD scored 98 out of 100, up from a score of 94 in the 2022-23 school year. According to district documents, one part of the review found that the district planned ahead and adjusted to changes in funding so it could make smart budget choices. The board meeting begins at 5 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the Virgil Gant Education Support Center, 1928 N. Main St., Pearland. Residents who want to know more about how the district spends taxpayer money can attend the public hearing. The strong score shows that Pearland ISD has steadily improved how it manages its budget over the past few years.
