Pearland Council of PTAs’ Swap Shop/Community Closet
Looking to update your child’s wardrobe on a budget? The Pearland Council of PTAs’ Swap Shop/Community Closet will be open tomorrow. Parents may donate/exchange gently-used clothes for their children to wear to school.
Look no further than the Pearland Council of PTAs’ Swap Shop/Community Closet to refresh your child’s wardrobe without denting the budget. The Pearland Council of PTAs' Swap Shop/Community Closet will open on May 10, 2022 from 5-7 p.m.
Through the Swap Shop, Pearland Independent School District parents may donate or exchange gently-used clothes for their children to wear to school.
The shop helps offset the cost of buying school clothes by allowing parents to trade children’s outgrown school clothes for something fresh.
Thanks to a voucher program, the shop also gives away clothes to district families in need.
Where Is the Swap Shop?
The Swap Shop is in the brown building behind Pearland Junior High West and across from PACE Center (2314 Old Alvin Road).
Enter from Old Alvin Road and turn in the driveway leading to PACE. The building is straight ahead. Look for a “Swap Shop” banner.
What May Be Exchanged or Donated?
Clothing to be exchanged or donated cannot have ink/marker/pencil marks, missing buttons, tears or other flaws. In addition, all items must be washed and neatly folded with no missing buttons, tears or any other flaws to the fabric.
The shop accepts only Pearland ISD dress code approved clothing.
Donations of lunch kits, backpacks and new or gently-worn shoes are also welcome.
Donations of NEW socks and underwear are also welcome.
What Is the Clothing Voucher?
A voucher allows families in need to get donated items without exchanging.
For clothing vouchers, contact your school nurse, counselor or principal. Vouchers must be signed in fresh ink. No copies are allowed.
How Do I Volunteer?
The Swap Shop always needs volunteers. For more information, contact Angie Clawson [email protected]
Every day when I pick Peanut up I am amazed at the things I see those kids wearing! Pajamas are a popular trend. Tights, no not leggings, tights and sports bras are also a popular look. Some kids kinda sorta follow the "suggestions of what to wear" code, but many more march to their own clothing drummer. Hair is pretty fantastic. I have seen some that come out in slippers and pajamas with a blanket wrapped around themselves. Pretty interesting place.
