Pearland Police Department Hosts Training on Data-Driven Approaches to Safety

This week the Pearland Police Department is hosting classes on DDACTS (Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety). This is a policing model the Pearland Police committed to in 2016. Officers and non-sworn employees from Pearland PD and also several local agencies are attending the training this week.
DDACTS is a law enforcement operational strategy that integrates location-based crime and traffic crash data to determine the most effective methods for deploying police department resources. Using geo-mapping to identify “hot spot” areas of high incidence of crimes and crashes, DDACTS uses targeted traffic enforcement strategies that fight crime and reduce crashes/traffic violations.
