Shooting Investigation from the City of Bryan Police Department
The Pearland Police Department wishes the best to Ofc. Watson of City of Bryan Police Department in his recovery and are happy to hear that he was released from the hospital. The suspect involved was taken into custody and is no longer wanted.

Officer Najee Watson, a 4-year veteran of the Bryan Police Department, is the involved officer. He was released from the hospital on December 31, 2022. Officer Watson is in good spirits and thanks the community for their support!
City of Bryan Police Department is Investigating Officer Shot In the Line of Duty-Posted on December 30, 2022
On December 29th, 2022 at 11:21 pm, an officer attempted to conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wayside Drive and Avondale Avenue. The suspect continued to drive for a short time before exiting the vehicle and running on foot. The officer began a foot pursuit with the suspect. During the foot pursuit, the suspect fired multiple gunshots at the officer. The officer was struck by gunfire. The officer did not return any gunfire toward the suspect. The suspect returned to the patrol car, stole the patrol car, and fled the shooting scene in a Bryan Police Department patrol vehicle.
The patrol vehicle was located unoccupied in the 2000 block of Fountain Avenue. Officers from multiple agencies already caught the suspect.
The officer has been transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital and is currently in stable condition.
This is an active investigation with multiple scenes. The City of Bryan Police Department will release more information when available.
