Pearland ISD’s 2022 Livestock Show & Career Expo
Who's ready for the Pearland ISD Livestock Show & Career Expo? The show kicked off last night with the Pearland Partner Livestock Show. This event pairs Pearland ISD FFA students with special needs students who learn how to care, groom, manage and feed animals! Learn more below.
Pearland Independent School District proudly presented the third Pearland Partner Livestock Show on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022 at 6 p.m. at Richard L. Wagoner Agricultural Facility at 4715 Bailey Road, Pearland, TX 77584. The District hosted the livestock show highlighting students with special needs
The event created an opportunity for students with special needs to be paired with and mentored by Pearland ISD Future Farmers of America (FFA) students. This youth-teaching-youth initiative has allowed students to learn how to properly care, groom, manage and feed animals, including pigs, sheep and a goat, culminating in a show where kids exhibit animals in front of judges, peers, teachers, administrators and the Pearland community.

This year’s show is under the leadership of Turner College and Career High School seniors Lorelai Dodson and Hailey Vitols.
The event is an opportunity for students to not only work with animals in the FFA environment, but to also interact with some of Pearland ISD’s outstanding student mentors.
“I am really excited about this event and for the amazing opportunity it represents for students with different abilities to work together with shared interests – students learning from students,” Dr. Lisa Nixon, Pearland ISD Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, said.
